A rivalry was born. From November 26th to December 1st, Niagara College Athletics & Recreation hosted the first ever Niagara-Brock Intramural Challenge.
The week-long event featured a series of best-on-best matches between Niagara College and Brock University intramural teams. The six game series was the first of its kind in a unique partnership between Niagara College Athletics & Recreation and Brock University Sports.
The Intramural Challenge will kicked off with a triple header of sports at Youngs Sportsplex featuring indoor soccer and ball hockey on November 26th. All three contests were taken by the teams from Niagara College. A pair of volleyball matches were played on November 29th, and the week culminated with a basketball game on December 1st. Both the volleyball matches and the basketball game were captured by Brock, completing a 3-3 split in the inaugrual event.
Teams were selected based on performance in their respective intramural leagues throughout the fall semester, with the champions from each sport being selected to represent their institution.
"We are excited to welcome Brock's intramural program champions to Niagara College for this unique student experience," said Director of Athletics & Recreation Matthew Davies. "This is a direct extension of our successful campus recreation program and will add to the already extensive list of special events offered to Niagara College students."
