September 23, 2022…WELLAND - The Canadian College Athletic Association has announced that 29 Niagara College Knights have been named recipients of the 2021-2022 CCAA National Scholar Award.
This year's announcement of 29 follows up to the 27 athletes named in 2020-2021.
The CCAA National Scholar Award recognizes the outstanding academic accomplishments of CCAA student-athletes. To be recognized, individuals must achieve honours standing at their respective institution in the current academic year, while competing as a member of their institution's intercollegiate sport program. At NC, a student-athlete must finish the season with a +80% average in their academic programs, demonstrating their success both on the playing field and in the classroom.
This year's crop of CCAA National Scholars brought a uniqueness with it, with the 2021-2022 season having it up's and downs as COVID continued to pose issues for a 'normal season'.
This year's award winners represented six Knights teams, five from women's volleyball, men's volleyball, men's basketball and women's soccer. Women's basketball finished with four, while men's soccer followed up with three.
Six Knights followed up their CCAA National Scholar Award from 2021-2022.
