Knights Mixed Team Win Fair Play Award At OCAA Championships

The Niagara College Knights Mixed Curling team finished their round-robin play without a win at the OCAA Championships in Sault Ste. Marie this past week, but did manage to come home with an award. The Knights were presented the Hap Holman Award recognizing fair play during the three day Championship.

The Knights lost all five of their draws. They lost 10-4 to Fanshawe and 11-3 to Seneca on Thursday. On Friday, they lost by a score of 7-2 to both Humber and Sault. They finished out the round-robin play losing 7-0 to St. Clair on Saturday.

After not having a mixed team for the past three seasons, the Knights were able to comprise a team in 2012.

Lead Lauren Brush (Amherstburg, ON), who was on the Knights Women's team last year and named team Top Rookie, was the only player with OCAA Championship experience.

Skip James Holloway (Mississauga, ON), Vice Karen Aitken (Ridgetown, ON), Second Andrew Alderson (Welland, ON) and Spare Michelle Corner (Orangeville, ON) were all first-year Knights.
