Knights Women’s Curling Team Finish .500 At OCAA Championships

The Niagara College Knights Women's Curling team finished their round-robin play at the OCAA Championships in Sault Ste. Marie this past week with a record of 2-2. Unfortunately for the Knights, they did not qualify for the medal rounds.

After losing their first two draws (5-3 to Seneca and 9-4 to Fanshawe), the Knights were able to bounce back and defeat Algoma 9-0 and Fleming (Peterborough) 7-4.

The Knights rink featured only one returning player from last season. Tracy Carreau (Welland, ON), who was named team MVP and won the leadership and top academic awards in 2011, was back as Second. The three first-year Knights were Skip Katie Spanton (Sarnia, ON), Vice Melissa Borowski (Welland, ON) and Lead Nicole Gofforth (Innisfil, ON).
