TORONTO, ON: The Niagara Knights (3-1) travelled to Toronto to take on the Humber Hawks (4-1) in a Sunday afternoon matchup. The Knights fought a tough battle, having some strong runs both offensively and defensively, but came up short when it mattered the most, eventually losing 64-51.
The Knights came into the game looking to go 2-0 against Humber on the season after beating them 59-52 in the home opener. The Knights struggled from the field early on shooting 10-40 (25%) in the first half. Leading the charge for the Knights, but coming up just short of her second double-double of the season, was 4th year Janee Harrison adding 13 points and 9 rebounds to the scoreboard.
Coming into the third quarter only down by one point, the Knights continued to challenge the Hawks with their strong defense but could not make it happen on the other end of the court. Aisja Strachan was a strong presence coming off the bench contributing 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal in only 13 minutes. Despite their strong defensive effort and pulling in 57 rebounds as a team, the Knights struggled to score late in the game and could not complete their comeback win.
The Knights will be back in action in a few days and looking to bounce back from a tough loss. Their next matchup will be at home Wednesday, November 13th against the Mohawk Mountaineers, with tipoff scheduled for 6:00 PM.
