Knights Women’s Basketball Sits Atop OCAA West Division Standings

January 15, 2025
OAKVILLE, ON: The Niagara College women's basketball team (10-1) travelled up the
QEW to Sheridan College on Wednesday evening to take on the Sheridan Bruins (2-
10), coming out on top with a 76-60 win. This win continues the Knights' 7-game
winning streak and along with Humber's loss to Mohawk last night, propels them into
first place in the OCAA West division standings.
The Knights took an early lead in the 1 st quarter, but the combination of experience and
first year talent for the Bruins was not going to let the Knights off the hook with an easy
win. The Knights outscored the Bruins 17-11 in the 1 st quarter, but the Bruins were able
to get it within 2 by the halfway mark. Although never holding a lead, the Bruins kept
the game close until late in the 4 th quarter when the Knights kicked it into high gear and
built their biggest lead of the game.
Fourth year guard Taryn Mitchell had her best game of the season so far, finishing with
18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals, just 2 rebounds shy of a double-double
and going 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Second year forward Eremwon Destiny had a
strong performance adding 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 block of her own. Janee
Harrison added another double-double to her season, tallying 16 points, 10 rebounds,
and 3 assists shooting 43% from the floor and going 2 for 3 from the free throw line.
The Knights now have the week to rest, recover, and game plan for their next game
when they will travel to London to take on the Fanshawe Falcons on Wednesday,
January 22 nd .
