RECAP: Weekend victory secures playoff spot for Knights

A 3-0 victory on Sunday afternoon for the Niagara Knights women's soccer (3-5-2, 4th OCAA Central) was enough to secure their second consecutive OCAA playoff berth. The Knights defeated the UTM Eagles (0-7-1, 6th OCAA Central) on the backs of their top strikers.

Alex Pasco (Niagara Falls) contributed a pair of goals, while Julia Pantusa (Niagara Falls) added a single to propel the Knights to the victory. Morgan German (Niagara Falls) recorded her second clean sheet in as many starts this season in the victory. The goals by Pasco and Pantusa move them into the upper echelon of Knights career goal scorers.

Pasco solidified herself as the second all-time leading scorer in program history, tallying a pair in the final game of the season. She wraps up the regular season was six goals on the campaign, for a total of nine in her Knights career. The mark leaves her just one short of Jackie Lawther's career mark of 10 career goals. Pantusa's season was enough to move her into third place with six career goals, falling in behind Pasco on the list.

Niagara will now head to Sudbury next weekend to take on the Cambrian Golden Shield (10-2, 2nd OCAA East) in the first round of the OCAA playoffs. Cambrian has the league's second best offence, recording 65 goals in just 12 games played. The date and time are still to be determined.
