Female Athlete of the Week – Julia Pantusa, Women's Soccer

The third year Broadcast, Radio, Television & Film student was a key contributor in the Knights victory over the visiting George Brown Huskies (0-1, 5th OCAA Central) on September 9th in Welland.

In the matchup Pantusa contributed two of the Knights team record five goals in the 5-0 victory over the Huskies. Pantusa's first strike came on the 29th minute as she converted a wonderfully placed corner kick to give the Knights a 2-0 lead in the match. She rounded out the scoring in the 66th minute on a beautifully placed penalty kick. With the two tallies, Pantusa has tripled her career goal total, having scored only once in 18 previous appearances with Niagara.

The Knights will return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 14th when they welcome the University of Toronto Mississauga Eagles to Youngs Sportsplex. Kickoff is scheduled for 4pm. Admission is free for all spectators.

Male Athlete of the Week – Keith Makubuya, Men's Soccer

Keith Makubuya (St. Catharines) of the Niagara Knights men's soccer program (0-1, 5th OCAA Central) has been named this week's male athlete of the week. Makubuya has the Knights lone tally in their 3-1 loss to the George Brown Huskies (1-0, 1st OCAA Central) in their season opener on September 9th at Youngs Sportsplex.

Despite the Knights tallying seven shots on goal in the second half of their contest against the Knights, Makubuya was the only player able to put one past the George Brown goalkeeper. He converted a beautiful header from five yards off a Knights corner kick in the 66th minute. The goal was the sixth in Makubuya's career, moving him into a tie for third place on the Knights all-time scoring list.

Makubuya and the Knights are back at it on Wednesday, September 14th when they welcome the University of Toronto Mississauga Eagles to Youngs Sportsplex. Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm. Admission is free for all spectators.
