Knights Golf set to Tee Off 2013 Season

The Niagara College golf team will begin their 2013 season on Saturday, September 21st when the team travels to the Forest City National Golf and Country Club in London, Ontario to take part in the Fanshawe College Invitational Golf Tournament.

The Knights are coming off a strong 2012 campaign that saw the team capture an OCAA bronze medal, and finish in fourth place at the Ping CCAA Championship.

The Knights will see some fresh faces on the 2013 roster, as the team will be without 2012 CCAA Silver medalist Robbie Ellis, and fellow team members Cole Kent and Chad Currie. Currie will serve as an assistant coach with the team during the 2013 season.

The Knights will return two team members from 2012 in Lukas Jakobs, and 2012 OCAA All-Ontario selection and Team MVP Walker Arnott. Arnott is in his second year at Niagara College and is currently enrolled in the Professional Golf Management program.

The next few days will also see the Knights compete in the annual Niagara College Knights Fall Classic being held Monday September 23rd at Hunters Pointe Golf Club in Welland, Ontario.

Niagara College golf teams have captured seven OCAA medals since 2000, and the team will look for continued success at this year's OCAA Championship tournament being hosted by Laurier Brantford at the Paris Grand Golf and Country Club.

The Knights will enter 8 players into the Fanshawe and Niagara College tournaments, before selecting a five man roster for competition at the September 29th OCAA Championship.
