Knights Golf off to CCAA National Championships

Knights Golf off to CCAA National Championships

Tuesday, October 15th will see the Niagara College golf team resume their quest for a CCAA Medal, as the Knights will be one of 24 teams competing in the 2013 CCAA Golf Championships being held at the Royal Quebec Golf Course in Quebec City.

The Knights will compete in the men's division, and the team is coming off a Bronze Medal at the 2013 OCAA Golf Championships. The Knights enter the event as the number seven ranked team in the nation.

The five-man team consists of veteran Lukas Jakobs, and newcomers Zach Bankuti, Evan Littlefield, Cody Chase, and Brody Gauthier.

The event will feature three rounds of competitive golf, a skills competition and the CCAA national championship awards banquet, where the 2013 CCAA All-Canadians and 2013 CCAA Golf Coach of the Year will be announced.

Participants in the event will compete as individuals, and at the end of each round the four best individual scores will be added together to form a team aggregate. After three days of the play the lowest three-day individual score will receive individual medals, and the three lowest aggregate team scores will receive the team medals.

The Knights finished in fourth place at the 2012 CCAA Golf Championships and 2012 team member Robbie Ellis captured an individual CCAA Silver medal.

The Royal Quebec Golf Course features two championship 18-hole courses, and has hosted many national and provincial level events. The 2013 PING CCAA Golf National Championships will be played on the Royal course, a 6545-yard par-72 course with a 135 slope.
