The Niagara College Knights Men's Volleyball team did not get 2012 started on a winning note as they lost 3-1 (25-19, 25-10, 19-25, 25-17) to the Fanshawe College Falcons on Wednesday night in London.
The Knights, playing with just eight players, would fall behind 2-0 before taking the third set.
However, the Falcons were just too strong for the Knights in the fourth set winning 25-17 to take the match.
Sam Youlton (Chatham, ON) led the way for the Falcons with 14 kills, four aces, and five blocks for a game-high 23 points.
Meanwhile, Niagara was again led in scoring by Millar Galbraith (Georgetown, ON), who recorded 13 kills and a block for 14 points.
The loss, which is the second straight for the Knights, drops their league record to 3-7.
The Knights are back in action on Wednesday, January 18 when they host the Mohawk College Mountaineers (7-3). The Mountaineers shutout the Knights 3-0 in their first meeting on December 7 in Hamilton.
Game time is 8:00pm at the new Athletic Centre.
