Men's Basketball Down Seneca

The Niagara College men's basketball program opened their 2013-14 exhibition season with an impressive 83-55 win over the Seneca Sting. The Knights utilized a strong fourth quarter that saw the team outscore the Sting 29-5 to secure the victory.

Knights' head coach Steve Atkin commented "we lacked some discipline for the first three quarters tonight. In the fourth, we finally started to play defense, took care of the ball, and we held them to five points."

Leading the way offensively for the Knights was veteran guard Aiden Alize-Minty. The five-foot-ten native of Midland, recorded 23 points in the victory. The recently named team captain shot an impressive five of eight from three-point range.

After the game Coach Atkin spoke highly of his shooting guard. "Aiden is shooting the ball well right now. He's showing a much higher comfort level at the two spot. He's a natural leader, and will be excellent for us in that role this season."

Also turning in strong performances were a pair of players playing their first home games in a Knights uniform.

Emmanuel Bolamba, the reigning OCAA East Division rookie of the year finished the game with 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Bolamba is a native of Ottawa, and competed for St. Lawrence College in 2012-13.

First-year forward Levi Mukuna provided 14 points and 5 rebounds. Mukuna stands at six-foot-three and is a graduate of ACMT in Hamilton, Ontario.

The Knights will resume their 2013-14 pre-season on October 9th when the team visits the Centennial Colts. Tip-off is set for 8:00pm.
