Men's Basketball Fall to Cougars

Men's Basketball Fall to Cougars

The Niagara College men's basketball program suffered a heartbreaking 74-71 loss in their 2013-14 season opener at the hands of the visiting Sault College Cougars. The Cougars rallied from seven points down in the final two minutes to secure the victory.

The exciting back-and-forth affair saw the two teams trade leads seven times before a 9-0 run in the game's final two minutes secured the victory for the Cougars.

Knights guard and team captain Aiden Alize-Minty led all-scorers in the contest finishing with 29 points. The Elmvale, Ontario native shot eight of 17 in the contest including an impressive six of 12 from three point range.

The difference in the game proved to be the strong rebounding of the Cougars. Sault College out rebounded Niagara 51 to 37 including two offensive rebounds in the dying seconds that led to the points that secured the victory.

The Knights will face a short turnaround as the team will host the same Sault College Cougars on Sunday, October 27th at 3:00pm. All Niagara College home games can be viewed in their entirety at www.ocaatv.com.
