Men's Soccer Unbeaten Streak Snapped

Men's Soccer Unbeaten Streak Snapped

The Niagara College men's soccer program lost for the first time since their season opener on Saturday, September 28th, falling 4-0 to the Fanshawe Falcons. The win moves the Knights into fourth place in the OCAA West Division with just two matches remaining in the regular season.

"The game started out poorly and only got worse from there" said Knights head coach Frank DeChellis. He continued, "to say we had a bad day is an understatement. We will just forget about the game and make our necessary adjustments starting Tuesday."

Heading into the match, the Knights had been riding a four game unbeaten streak, but a goal in the 13th minute but the Falcons' Justin Marques seemed to derail the team.

The Knights were unable to generate any serious momentum during the middle portion of the match, and the final 30 minutes saw the Falcons record three more tallies.

The Knights failed to let a less than stellar showing on Saturday derail their spirits, as the team led their second session of the Sport Niagara Youth Academy early Sunday morning. DeChellis added "Watching our players enjoy themselves while interacting with young kids makes me hope that our players realize how much we as a coaching staff enjoy interacting with them when it's their turn to play."

The Knights will face another tough challenge this week, when the team hosts the unbeaten Sheridan Bruins on Friday, October 2nd at 5:00 pm.
