February 19, 2023 WELLAND, ONT - In the final regular season game of their season our Knights ran away with victory 74-31 over the travelling St. Clair Saints at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday's afternoon matchup saw our women take control of the game early and never took their foot off the gas ending the first quarter with an 8-point lead, 18-10. Going into the second half leading 42-17, our Knights put on a defensive masterclass for the rest of the game holding the Saints to only 14 more points in the final two quarters on 17% field goal shooting.
The Knights dominated again in the paint outscoring St. Clair 36-12, leading Niagara to their second largest win of the year 74-31.
Taryn Mitchell led the way for Niagara today scoring a team high 23 points on an efficient 57% field goal shooting and shooting 56% from beyond the arc for a season-high five threes made.
With this win, Niagara has finished the regular season with a record of 9-7 and will receive a bye past the cross-over playoff match as we host the 2023 OCAA championship on March 3-5th, The Knights will play the quarter-final matchup on March 3rd, with their opponent to be announced once the cross-over playoff matches have concluded.
