Men's Basketball Defeat Sault College

The Niagara College Men's Basketball Program defeated the Sault College Cougars 92-60 on Sunday, January 20th at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. The win improves the Knights to 9-5 on the season and temporarily into fourth place in the OCAA West Division.

The Knight's controlled the Cougars from the opening tip-off and managed to rotate all 11 players onto the court.

"We played well today, and got an important win" said Niagara Head Coach Steve Atkin.

Niagara utilized their up-tempo offensive attack with great success throughout the game and involved the entire team on the score sheet.

Jimmy Bilenga and Marako Lundy each turned in their second consecutive strong performance, both recording 17 points in the victory.

Coach Atkin felt pleased with his team's offensive output during Sunday's matchup, as the Knights finished the game with four players reaching double-digit scoring. Matt Poirier recorded 13 while Ashton Stephenson finished with 10.

The Knights will receive a much needed few days off before heading north to visit the Canadore College Panthers next weekend. Coach Atkin feels "our priority moving forward is to get everyone healthy as we move into the most important part of our schedule."

Niagara will return to the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on Thursday, January 31st at 8:00pm when they host the defending CCAA National Champion Mohawk Mountaineers.
