Back to back road wins for Knights Men’s basketball

October 28, 2023. BRAMPTON

The men's basketball team returns undefeated on the road this season after picking up two big wins against the Humber Hawks and the Sheridan Bruins.

The Knights hit the road Wednesday night against Humber in their first of two back-to-back away games. After a back-and-forth first quarter that saw the Knights up only 2 points, the Knights closed out the half strong behind a dominant second quarter from forwards Raheem Dennis and Kenneth Reckley who poured in 13 of Niagara's 26 points in the quarter.

The Hawks would come out strong to open the second half, but their efforts were not enough to contain Kenneth Reckley who poured in another 10 of his team-high 22 points in the fourth quarter to help the Knights get the 91-82 win over the Hawks.

The Knights ended their back-to-back away games Saturday night at the Davis campus gymnasium against the Sheridan Bruins. It was a highly competitive and high-scoring game with many lead changes. The Knights started the game on fire, scoring 31 points in the first quarter alone before cooling off slightly in the second to go into the half trailing the Bruins 51-54.

The Knights came out in the third quarter with the same intensity they began the game, pouring in 26 points in the quarter behind some energy off the bench from guard Ethan Alino-Dela Cruz, who contributed 9 points in the quarter. The Knights would go into the fourth quarter up 77-73 where forward Kenneth Reckley would lead the Knights to a 98-94 win to bring their record to 2-1 for the season.

Leading the Knights were Simons Ricketts-Ewan with a team-high 21 points, 11 rebounds, and Raheem Dennis with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.

The Knights look to extend their winning streak and improve to 3-1 this season when they take on the visiting Lambton Lions at 8 p.m. this Friday, November 3, in the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre on the Welland Campus.
