Knights Mens Basketball finish final road trip of the season with a 1-1 record

February 3-4, 2024, Sarnia/Windsor

The Knights Men's basketball team travelled to Sarnia on Friday and Windsor on Saturday for their final road trip of the season.  The Knights started off strong with a 77-68 win against the Lambton Lions at the Cestar Group Athletics & Fitness Complex in Sarnia on Saturday afternoon.

Three Knights players scored in the double digits this game and as has been fairly typical this half of the season, 8 different Knights players contributed to the final score.  The Knights started off strong with a huge 32-point first quarter before Lambton started to figure out how to defend some of Niagara's energetic offensive strategies.  There was some frustration from Lambton's side with quite a few fouls occurring late in the second quarter and into the third.

Lambton was able to outscore Niagara in both quarters in the second half of the game, but it was not enough to build up the comeback.  Starting guard Reggie Willams was able to add 18 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals to the tally.  Kadin Moore came off the bench and added 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals.  Khayden Stewart has been a great addition to this year's team adding steady offense and great defensive energy.  This game he was able to contribute 10 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals.

The Knights hoped to take this energy to St. Clair's South Campus Sportsplex for their game on Sunday afternoon but were not able to bring their best game against an exceptionally strong St. Clair team.  The Saints are ranked first in the OCAA west division, and their strong offensive tactics proved to be too much for the Knights.

Coach Phil Mosley added "unfortunately we came out flat (against St. Clair) today and could not put together a run to close an early game deficit.  They are a very strong team and we needed to bring our best effort, intensity, and execution".

The Knights will now look forward and prepare for their final regular season game at home against the Sheridan Bruins on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8pm, immediately following a ceremony to celebrate the team's graduating athletes.
