Women's Basketball adds Guard Beth DeBoer from Eden High School

The Niagara Knights women's basketball program is happy to announce the addition of Beth DeBoer for the 2019-20 season. DeBoer, a local product from Niagara-on-the-Lake, has played four years on the Eden High School senior basketball team where she was the team captain. She has also played for the Niagara Rangers club team.

"Beth is a very good shooter, she understands the game well and works at her game," said Knights head coach Michael Beccaria. "She also has the ability to take the ball to the basket when opponents challenge her jump shot."

Beginning in September, DeBoer will be enrolled in the Police Foundations program at Niagara College.

"I have always wanted to play post-secondary ball," said DeBoer when asked why she chose Niagara College. "The combination of wanting to stay local, the lovely coaching staff, and the fact that Niagara College showed early interest in me helped me come to my decision."

When she gears up in her Knights uniform for the first time, it won't be her first time on the Welland Campus basketball court as DeBoer is a two-time participant in the Niagara Region Basketball Showcase hosted by Niagara College.

While a student-athlete at Niagara College, DeBoer has specific goals that she wishes to accomplish both on and off the court.

"On the court I'm going to keep getting better. I want to put myself in the best position to contribute most to the team by knowing my strengths. Off the court, I'm hoping to explore what a career in Police Foundations would look like. My only goal is to gain knowledge and get more insight into the direction I want to take."

Beccaria is excited about the addition of DeBoer and says that she is going to be pushing for playing time immediately. She will join the rest of the Niagara Knights beginning in September when training camp officially begins.
