The Niagara Knights women's basketball team kicked off their season with a victory defeating the visiting Mohawk Mountaineers 56-52 at home in a thrilling back-and-forth game. After a 13-13 stalemate to end the first quarter, Mohawk developed a lead late in the second quarter to be up on the Knights 33-29 going into the half.

The Knights regrouped and started the third quarter strong, controling most of it with the help of third year forward Janee Harrison.  Harrison scored 12 of her game-high 25 points in the quarter alone, helping the Knights close out third quarter up 46-45. The Knights locked down on defense in the fourth quarter with some extra energy off the bench from second-year guard Diana Saoud who set the tone defensively.  Saoud reeled in 5 points in the quarter to help the Knights secure a 56-52 victory over the visiting Mountaineers.

The Knights also had strong performances from guards Jamira Rousseau and Lexxus Bell who combined for 15 points, 13 rebounds, 6 steals, and 5 assists.

The Knights look to carry this winning momentum into their next game which sees them on the road against the Humber Hawks on Wednesday, October 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Humber North Campus Gymnasium.
