Knights Women’s Basketball head to Sarnia for OCAA Championships

March 1, 2024, WELLAND

The Niagara College women's basketball team heads to Sarnia today to compete in the OCAA provincial championships being hosted by Lambton College.  This year's new format saw the Knights take two commanding home playoff wins in a crossover game vs. St. Lawrence and then a quarter final game against Fanshawe to earn their way to the Final Four Championship.

The Knights will play #1 seed in the west, Lambton, at their home court on Saturday evening at 5pm for a chance to play in the gold medal game on Sunday evening.

This season the Knights had many different players contributing to the stat line, but were led by guard Taryn Mitchell and Forward/Guard Janee Harrison who were both named OCAA second team all stars for their efforts this season.

In the other semi-final, #1 seed from the east will play St. Clair college at 7:30pm on Saturday.  The winners of the two semi-finals will meet in the gold medal match at 5pm on Sunday, March 3rd.  The two losers of the semi-final matches will play for bronze at 2:30pm on Sunday.

All action can be watched from home as games will be live streamed via OCAA Live.  Keep an eye on our Instagram page @nc_knights for live updates during the championship.
