Knights Women’s Basketball Run Down the Royals

The Knights women's basketball team defeated the visiting Redeemer Royals 78-40 on Thursday to extend their winning streak to three in a row. 

The Knights dominated the game from the opening tip-off, taking a commanding 20-point lead to go up 26-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Knights continued to assert their dominance in the second quarter, pouring in another 20 points on offense while continuing to lock up defensively, holding the Royals to only 9 points in the quarter. The Knights headed into the half up comfortably, leading the Royals 46-15 behind a strong first-half performance from Janee Harrison, who led the Knights in scoring with 10 points. 

The second half of the game was a more closely contested affair. The third quarter was much better offensively for the Royals, but they could not keep Niagara quiet as they matched the Royals points for the quarter to maintain their 31-point lead heading into the final quarter. Niagara closed out the final quarter the same way they started, winning the quarter 13-6 to go on to win the game 78-40. Leading the game for the Knights were Janee Harrison and Taryn Mitchell who combined for 32 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 steals . 

This win brings the Knights record to 5-2 for the season. Next up for the Knights is another home game against the visiting Fanshawe Falcons this Sunday, November 26, at 1:00 PM in the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre gym, where the Knights will look to extend their current 3-game winning streak.
