Knights women’s basketball cannot contain the Saints

December 01, 2023, WELLAND.

The Knights women's basketball team saw their 4-game winning streak come to an end Friday night against the visiting St. Clair Saints.

The Knights kept it close to end the first quarter, but the Saints came out rolling in the second quarter, stretching their 4-point lead to 20, to head into the half leading the Knights 45-25.

The Knights regrouped at half and stepped up defensively in the third quarter, managing to hold the Saints to 4 points in the quarter.  Stellar performances from Lexus Bell and Molly Taylor who combined for all of Niagara's 19 points in the quarter helped the Knights cut St. Clair's 20-point lead down to only 4.

The Knights continued to battle with the Saints in the fourth but unfortunately could not contain the Saints' offense on the night and would go on to lose the game 70-57. This recent loss brings the Knights to 6-3 for the season.

The Knights head into the winter break with high spirits and some key skills to practice.  They come back to the court hosting the Conestoga Condors on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Niagara College Simplii Financial Athletic Centre.  The tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
