Knights Women's Volleyball Team End 2011 On A Winning Note

The Niagara College Knights Women's Volleyball team defeated the Mohawk College Mountaineers 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 18-25, 26-24, 15-9) to end the first-half of the 2011-2012 season.

First-year outside hitter Lindsay Murray (Welland, Ont.) had a strong performance in the victory. The Notre Dame graduate had 24 kills and two blocks for a season-high 26 points. She also recorded 10 digs. Marieka Ouimette (Spencerville, Ont.) recorded 11 kills and one ace for 12 points.

Niagara, who snapped a three-game losing streak, are now in fourth place in the OCAA West region with a record of 5-4.

The Knights will resume their 2011-2012 regular season on Wednesday, Jan. 11 when they travel to London, Ont., to take on the Fanshawe College Falcons.

Game time is 6:00pm.
