Knights Women’s Volleyball Team Lose To Condors In Five Sets

The Niagara College Knights Women's Volleyball team had their three-game winning streak come to an end on Friday night when they lost 3-2 (15-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-13) at home to the Conestoga College Condors.

The Condors, who lost 3-0 to the Knights in their first meeting back on November 22 in Kitchener, were led offensively by Sarah Tosh (Moffat, Ontario) with five kills and eight aces for 13 points. Tiffany Pinksen (Kitchener, ON) contributed with eight kills, two aces for 10 points, along with a game-high 33 digs.

Meanwhile, Lindsay Murray (Welland, ON) had 11 kills, five aces, and four blocks for a game-high 20 points for Niagara. Jenna Bray (Burlington, ON) also had a strong game with 13 kills and an ace for 14 points. Both Murray and Bray had 22 digs defensively. Marieka Ouimette (Spencerville, ON) also reached double-digits in scoring with six kills, four aces, and a block for 11 points.

It is the second time in their last three losses that the Knights have lost after jumping out to a 2-0 lead.

The loss drops the Knights to 8-7, good enough for fourth place in the OCAA West with four games remaining in the 2011-2012 regular season.

The squad is back in action on Wednesday, February 8 when they travel to Oakville to face the Sheridan College Bruins (7-8). Niagara beat Sheridan 3-1 in their first meeting on November 16 in Welland.
