Men's Soccer Blanked by Sheridan

Men's Soccer Blanked by Sheridan

Tuesday, September 6th saw the Niagara College men's soccer program fall to 2-2 on the season as the team suffered a 4-0 road loss at the hands of the Sheridan Bruins (3-0).

The matchup saw the Knights run into a Sheridan side that has been playing fantastic soccer over the first half of the 2014 season. The Bruins have scored a league-high 18 goals in their first three matches while giving up just one against.

"The game was not as one sided as the score sheet appeared. Both teams saw many chances in to score in each other's penalty areas" said Knights head coach Frank DeChellis. He continued "Sheridan just showed a little more urgency in capitalizing on breakdowns and opportunities."

The match saw the high scoring Bruins get goals from Molham Babouli, Raheem Edwards, Christian Kusiewicz, and Kwesi Williams.

For the Knights, first-year players Olushola Oladejo (Nigeria), Andrew Currie (Woodstock) , Michael Serianni (Welland) and Connor Diacur (St Catharines) all turned in their best performances of the 2014 season.

Up next for the Knights is a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Fanshawe Falcons (0-3) at 4:00pm at Youngs Sportsplex. The two teams last met in a 2013 matchup that saw the Falcons blank the Knights 4-0.

"Fanshawe is 0-3 right now but I don't trust that. They never disappoint and I still expect them to find a way to make post season. Every coach in the OCAA knows that" added Coach DeChellis.
