Men's Soccer Play Host to Mohawk College

On Thursday October 2nd, the Niagara College men's (4-3, 4th West) soccer program will be hosting the Mohawk Mountaineers (0-4-2, 8th West).  The Knights will be putting their perfect home record on the line as they try to keep a third place finish within reach.

Third place in the OCAA will guarantee the Knights at least one home game during the 2014 playoffs.  To claim third, the Knights must defeat the Mountaineers and the St. Clair Saints (4-0-2, 3rd West) must lose/draw to Humber (4-0-2, 2nd West) and Sheridan (6-0-1, 1st West) this weekend.

The Mountaineers enter this game are coming off a 4-0 loss to Humber College on Saturday. Despite their winless record, the Knights will not be taking their opponents lightly. "We know not to be fooled by anybody's record this season", said second year head coach Frank DeChellis. "Mohawk still has something to play for with two games left and we want to be in a position to steal third place. No game has been easy and we expect more of the same on Thursday."

When these two teams matched up last year, Niagara cruised to a 4-1 win behind a pair of goals from their impact forward Carlos Williams (St. Catharines).  Williams, a second year student, is the reigning male athlete of the week recipient for Niagara College.  He will be looking to repeat the honours with another strong performance this Thursday night.
The match will be held at Youngs SportPlex with kick-off set for 6:00pm.
