Déjà vu for Men’s Soccer Program

Déjà vu for Men’s Soccer Program

The 2013 OCAA quarter-finals consisted of the Algonquin Thunder and the Niagara College Knights.  This year will be more of the same.

On Saturday October 18th, the Niagara College Knights (5-3, 4th West) will be heading to Ottawa to take on the Algonquin Thunder (7-0, 1st East).  This will be a redemption game for the Knights, as they fell 3-1 last year to the eventual silver medal winners.

With their most talented roster in years, the Knights will have to play their best soccer of 2014 to keep their season alive.  Tied for 13th in the OCAA with 8 points, co-captain Carlos Williams will be relied on heavily to help the Knights advance to the championship round.

The 2014 OCAA Championship is being hosted by Niagara College but 3rd year head coach Frank DeChellis does not want to lose focus on the task at hand.  "Saturday will be the biggest challenge we have faced all season," said coach DeChellis.  "This Thunder squad has only surrendered 2 goals and went undefeated this year.  We have a great team and I know these young men will play hard and leave everything on the field.  I am looking forward to a great match this weekend."

Kick-off is set for 3:00pm at Thunder Yards in Ottawa.
