On the Road Again

On the Road Again

Coming off a big win last Saturday at home, the Niagara College men's (3-2, 3rd West) program is headed on a long road trip to southern Ontario.

Saturday, September 27th has the Knights travelling 380 kilometers to Windsor, where they will face off against a strong St. Clair Saints (2-0-2, 4th West) team. St. Clair is undefeated so far in 2014 and trails the Knights by only one point in the OCAA standings.

The Saints are coming off a 2-2 draw against the Lambton Lions and will be looking to overtake the Knights for third place.  These two teams met last year in the first round of the OCAA playoffs and the Knights emerged victorious with a 2-1 win in extra time.  Second year forward Carlos Williams (St. Catharines), scored the goal that sent the game to added time last season, so you can expect him to come up clutch again in this game.  Kick-off is slated for 4:00pm at St. Clair Campus Field.

Following the conclusion of that game, the Knights will head back on the road to Sarnia, to complete their two games in two days road trip. Waiting in Sarnia is the Lambton Lions (2-1-1, 5th West), a team that will be looking for redemption after being blanked 4-0 by the Knights last season.

A sweep of this weekend's road trip guarantees the Knights a spot in the OCAA playoffs, but the team is taking it one game at a time.  "This is a very tough road trip", said Knights head coach Frank DeChellis. "Both of these games will be a true challenge and I am looking forward to see how these young men stand up in the face adversity.  We need to stay focused on playing our brand of soccer and everything else will work itself out."

Kick-off on Sunday is scheduled for 4:00pm at Main Campus.
