Women's Volleyball

Friday, November 7^th will see the Niagara College women's volleyball (2-0, 2^nd West) program head on the road to take on the Redeemer Royals (2-1, 3^rd West).

This Knights squad is coming off a 3-0 win over Mohawk (1-2, 8^th West) behind third year middle blocker Nicole Schoonerwoerd's (Tavistock, ON) game high 14 points.  The win put the Knights in the national rankings, currently sitting in 15^th place in Canada.

Redeemer recently lost 3-0 to Humber (3-0, 1^st West) and will be looking to get back in the win column.  Right side Curtiss Straatsma led the Royals with 7 points in the loss.

When these two teams met last season, Redeemer won both matches by a score of three sets to one.

Player Watch:

Nicole Schoonerwoerd (#8 Niagara): Coming off her best game of this season, Nicole will be looking to continue her success at the net, where she had 8 kills on 10 attacks.

Curtiss Straatsma (#7 Redeemer): The 4^th year Brampton native is currently 8^th in the province with 2.55 K/S.

Game time is set for 6:00pm at the RUC Gymnasium.

Men's Volleyball

The men's volleyball (0-2, 8^th West) program is headed to Ancaster, ON to take on the Redeemer Royals (1-2, 7^th West).

The Knights are coming off a 3-0 home loss to Mohawk (2-0, 2^nd West).  Third year opposite Nathan Snippe (St. Anns, ON) had a team high 11 points in the loss.

These two teams faced each other back in October in the gold medal game of the Seneca Sting Invitational.  A five set marathon ensued and the Knights eventually secured the victory, coming from behind in the final set.  Nathan Snippe was named tournament MVP, while Cole Jordan (London, ON) and setter Steve Stone (St. Catharines, ON) were named All-Stars.

Player watch:

Steve Stone (#4 Niagara): The 4^th year setter is currently ranked 4^th in the province with 8.80 A/S.

Eric Heidbuurt (#11 Redeemer): Ranked 4^th in the province with 4.4 points per set.

Game time is set for 8:00pm.
