The Niagara College men's volleyball (12-6, 4th West) program is headed to Windsor this weekend to participate in the 214-15 OCAA championship. The Knights will start the tournament against the powerhouse Mohawk Mountaineers (17-1, 1st West) on Friday, February 27th.
This will be the third straight season Niagara has advanced to the OCAA championship. Last year, the Knights fell to the Fanshawe Falcons 3-1 in the bronze semi-final. Outside hitter Jeff Scott (Georgetown) led the Knights with 16 points in the loss.
The Mountaineers are the defending OCAA champions after defeating Humber College last season 3-2.
Mohawk swept the season series between these two programs; however the Knights pushed the last match to five sets on the road – 25-18, 22-25, 16-25, 30-28, 15-17. Adam Schiedel led Mohawk with a game-high 19 points while Nathan Snippe (St. Ann's) had 16 points for Niagara in the loss.
