PREVIEW: Knights look to get back in win column against Redeemer

The Niagara College women's basketball (2-1, 5th West) program will be playing their second home game of the season Wednesday when they host the Redeemer Royals (0-1, 8th West).

In their home opener, the Knights lost to the St. Clair Saints (3-1, 3rd West) 72-56, in a game that saw the Saints score 27 points off 30 turnovers.  In the loss, Niagara was led by their two big forwards, the McPherson sisters.  Natives of Welland, Kaitlyn finished with a team-high 13 points, while Courtney finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.  For Courtney, the reigning OCAA rookie of the year, it was her first double-double of the season.

In their only league action of the season, Redeemer lost to the Fanshawe Falcons (2-0, 2nd West) 78-55.  Jesseca Brown finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Royals in the loss.

The Knights have won their last four matchups against Redeemer, including 17 of their last 18 meetings.  The last time these two teams played, Niagara won by 20 points, 76-56.  Courtney McPherson posted a monster line, finishing with 32 points and 16 rebounds. Team captain Miranda Ross (St. Catharines) also recorded a double-double, ending the night with 15 points and 15 rebounds.  Overall, the Knights are 29-7 all-time against the Royals and 16-3 at home.

Tip-off for Wednesday's matchup is set for 6:00pm and tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.00, while students and those under the age of 17 are admitted free. For those unable to be in attendance, all Knights home games are live streamed through www.goknights.ca/watchlive.
