PREVIEW: No. 3 Knights men’s basketball set to battle No. 7 Humber Hawks

Wednesday, January 25th will play host to a marquee OCAA men's basketball matchup when the CCAA No. 3 ranked Niagara Knights travel to the GTA to take on the No. 7 ranked Humber Hawks. The Hawks currently sit two points ahead of the Knights in the OCAA West Division standings, Niagara has played two fewer games in 2016-17.

The two men's basketball powers last met on November 3rd at the Welland Campus Athletic centre in a spirited affair that saw the Knights capture a 71-66 victory. Since that time, both teams have gone unbeaten, setting the stage for a thrilling weekday matchup between two of the top seven teams in the Nation.

The matchup will serve as a classic contrast in playing styles. The high octane Knights offense sits second in the OCAA in point-per-game (90.7), while the Hawks' defense allows a conference low 67.2 points against.

Both teams seem to finding their rhythm as Humber is coming off a pair of double-digit victories that saw the team give up just 125 points combined, while the Knights are averaging a blistering 111 points-per-game since the mid-season break.

Niagara will rely on a deep and balanced offensive attack that features seven players averaging more than eight points-per-game. The team is led by guards Van Hutchinson Jr. (Nassau) and Lequan Hylton (Missisauga) who are averaging 14.6 and 13.9 points-per-game respectively.

The Hawks will counter with a trio of talented fifth year veterans in Tyrone Dickson, Ancil Martin, and Gibson Ediful.

Tip-off is set for 8:00pm at the Humber Athletic Centre, and the game will be live broadcasted via The Hawks Sports Network at https://www.youtube.com/user/hawksrock121/live
