PREVIEW: Knights Basketball looking to ground Falcons

PREVIEW: Knights Basketball looking to ground Falcons

Friday, February 17th will see the Niagara College men's and women's basketball programs wrap up their regular seasons with road games against the Fanshawe Falcons.

The Knights women's basketball program (12-5) is red hot, having won five straight games, catapulting the team into a tie for second place in the OCAA West Division. A win versus the Falcons will ensure the team finishes no lower than fourth in the division, and will give the team the right to host an OCAA playoff game. A loss however could see the Knights hit the road for a playoff game against a higher seeded East Division opponent.

The Knights will look to St. Catharines native Mary Ingribelli to continue her red hot play. The fourth-year guard is coming off her best games of the season in the form of a double-double against Lambton, and a season high 19 points against St. Clair. Ingribelli was named OCAA women's basketball athlete of the week for her performance.

On the men's side the team enters the contest with second place and a first round playoff bye already secured. The Knights are currently ranked fourth in the CCAA national rankings, and sport a record of 13-2.

Tip-off for the women's game is set for 6:00pm, while the men will get underway at 8:00pm. The games will be livestreamed at https://www.fanshawec.ca/athletics/watch-live.
