PREVIEW: Knights men's basketball set to face Huskies in OCAA Semi-Finals

The Niagara College men's basketball program has reached the final four at the 2017 OCAA men's basketball championship being hosted by Centennial College. The CCAA No. 8 ranked Knights will face the No. 6 ranked George Brown Huskies in a semi-final game set for Friday night at 8:00pm.

The tale of the tape shows a pair of evenly matched teams. The Knights enter the game averaging 86.6 points per game versus the Huskies at 86.7. The two sides are also virtually deadlocked at better than 49 rebounds per game. The Huskies are the OCAA East Division No.1 seed while the Knights are the two seed in the West.

Both teams are looking to end prolonged OCAA men's basketball podium droughts, as the Knights last medal came in the 2008-09 season where they captured a bronze medal. While George Brown's last medal came back in the 1989-90 season when they took the silver.

Niagara defeated the host Centennial Colts 70-66 in an overtime thriller on Thursday night, while the Huskies bested the Fanshawe Falcons 76-74 in a hard fought battle.

The winner of Friday's semi-final matchup advances to the OCAA gold Medal game, and will receive a berth in the CCAA National Championship being hosted by Holland College in Charlottetown, PEI. The loser will be related to the Bronze medal game. The other OCAA semi-final sees the Sheridan Bruins taking on the Humber Hawks.
