RECAP: Knights men's basketball improve to 11-2

The CCAA No. 4 ranked Niagara Knight's men's basketball program travelled to Sault St. Marie this weekend for a pair of road games against the Sault Cougars. The Knights won both contests by scores of 68-61 on Saturday and 84-65 on Sunday. The wins improve the Knights to 11-2 on the season, and maintains the team's hold on second place in the OCAA West Division.

The Knights were paced by second year guard Van Hutchinson Jr (Nassau, Bahamas). The explosive six-foot-four U.S. Junior College transfer turned in a pair of double-doubles bringing his season total to a team leading seven. Hutchinson finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds on Saturday, and 13 and 11 on Sunday.

Hutchinson Jr was named the Niagara Knights male athlete of the week for his performance.

Up next the Knights will host their final home stand of the 2016-17 season. The team will host the Lambton Lions (3-9) on Saturday, February 11 at 3:00pm, and the St. Clair Saints (6-6) at 3:00pm on Sunday February 12th. Sunday's matchup will serve as the fourth annual men's basketball "Grad Night" ceremony, where six graduating members of the program will recognized prior to tip-off for their commitment to academic success.
