Knights downed by Saints

Knights downed by Saints

January 13, 2024

WINDSOR, ONT:, The Niagara College men's volleyball team (8-5) took to the road for a matchup against the St. Clair Saints (9-3).  Unfortunately, the results were not any different this time as the Knights lost 3-2 (Set scores were 15-25, 25-20, 27-25, 23-25 and 11-15).

The Knights battled back after a rough first set to take a 2-1 set lead against the Saints going into the 4th set.  Regrettably, they could not muster up enough of a battle to take the Saints down as the end result was in favor of St. Clair.  Carter Thurman once again led the Knights into battle and came out with 27 assists, 13 digs, 3 blocks and 2 kills.  Mitch Churipuy and Matthew Takacs combined for an additional 28 digs, while Takacs led the Knights in kills with 11.

Knights head coach, Steve Stone, commented on the game by stating that "the boys came out a little flat in this one and just weren't able to close out when they needed to."  Stone went on to discuss some key moments throughout the match, but focused on the fact that "we had plenty of chances and opportunities, so we need to capitalize on those."

The Knights hope to get back on track when they take to the road again on Thursday, January 18th against the Conestoga Condors (8-3).  Be sure to catch all the action on OCAA Live!
