HAMILTON, ONT:, The Niagara College men's volleyball team (10-7) took to the road for a matchup against the Mohawk Mountaineers (7-10) Wednesday evening.  The Knights were able to win the season series against the Mountaineers with a dominant 3-0 victory (Set scores were 25-18, 25-14 and 25-23).

The Knights came out firing from the start in this one taking the first two sets decisively.  The Mountaineers made it a close set in the third, but just could not battle back.  Elijah Bugiardini was placed back into the starting lineup for this match and delivered with 9 kills, 4 digs, 2 blocks and 1 service ace.  Carter Thurman once again led the charge contributing 15 assists, 2 blocks, 1 dig and 1 kill.  Matthew Takacs followed closely behind in the offensive department with 7 kills of his own, 8 digs and 1 assist.

When asked about the game, head coach Steve Stone said that "the boys came out fighting in this one and never looked back."  He continued to note that "we (the Knights) followed our game plan and executed what we wanted to do.  We minimized the mistakes on our end and made the key plays when we had our chances."

The Knights are set to welcome the Sheridan Bruins (3-13) to the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre at Welland Campus, as they close out the regular season on Saturday, February 3rd at 3:00pm.  Knights fans are welcome to attend and catch all the action in person.  The game can also be found live at www.ocaalive.com.
