RECAP: Men's soccer lose to Falcons in OT thriller

Thursday, November 30th saw the Niagara College men's soccer program eliminated from medal contention at the 2015 OCAA Championship after suffering a grueling 2-0 overtime loss to the top seeded Fanshawe Falcons.

The two teams squared off in exhausting high wind conditions for 120 minutes, at Centennial Park in Mississauga. The best player on the field proved to be third year Knights keeper Jordan Provenzano (Niagara Falls). The electrical techniques student was fantastic for his team, turning aside countless high quality scoring chances throughout the match.

The 0-0 game carried through to a 30 minute overtime period when in the 97th minute, Falcons' forward Cedric N'Guessen found the back of the net. The Falcons added an insurance marker ten minutes later when Daniel Amaya-Romero stretched the lead to two.

"Our back four and Jordan Provenzano played very well today.  This was Jordan's best performance of the season, and it wasn't his first time a great performance was not rewarded with a victory" said Knight head coach Frank DeChellis after the match.

The playing conditions proved to be the story of the day at the event hosted by the Humber Hawks. DeChellis continued "we didn't manage the wind well today.  It was strong enough to affect the game, but that doesn't mean we had to let it affect it as much as it did.  We survived playing against the wind first half and I thought we would be in the driver's seat the rest of the wat, but that never materialized."

The Knights will now play on the consolation side of the event, facing the Fleming Knights on Friday, October 30th at 9:30am.
