The Niagara College women's volleyball (3-0, 2^nd West) program went on the road Friday, November 7^th to take on the Redeemer Royals (2-2, 6^th West).  A loud and crowded RUC Gymnasium wasn't enough to stop the Knights from coming away with a 3-2 (21-25, 25-10, 22-25, 25-20, 18-16) victory.

A key moment in the match came in the fifth set, where the Knights were trailing 14-15.  Fourth year middle blocker Alexandria Bothelho (Stoney Creek, ON) blocked the attack of Charlene De Vries (London, ON) to tie the game and swing the momentum back to Niagara.

Leading scorer for the Knights was fifth year outside hitter Lucy McLay (Stratford, ON) who had a team high 13 points.  Coming over from Brock University, Lucy has done very well in her first season in the OCAA.   Lucy received OCAA Athlete of the Week honours for her contribution in the Knights 3-1 victory on the road against St. Clair, October 26^th.

Linnea Davis (Brampton, ON) contributed with 10 points and seven digs.  Linnea was named Niagara College Athlete of the Week for November 10^th, not just because of her final stat line.  In the fifth set, Linnea scored three of the last four points to secure the victory for the Knights.  "Linnea has been an important piece to our puzzle this year and one of the keys to our immediate success," said fourth year head coach Joey Martins.  "We moved Linnea into a new position that we thought would really put an emphasis on her strengths.  She has taken this change extremely well and is starting to evolve into one of the best Right Side players in the league."

When the national women's volleyball rankings were released last Tuesday, number 15 on the list read Niagara College.  This win could move the women's program up the standings when the updated rankings are released November 11^th.

The Knights will have a week off before they host Cambrian (1-2, 8^th West) Saturday, November 15^th and Boreal (0-4, 9^th West) Sunday, November 16^th in a weekend of back to backs.
