SUDBURY, ONT:, The Niagara College women's volleyball team (3-0) headed to Sudbury over the weekend and returned with a pair of wins, defeating College Boreal Viperes (0-4) 3-0 on Saturday (Set scores were 25-12, 25-18 and 25-23) and the Cambrian Golden Shield (1-2) 3-2 on Sunday (Set scores were 25-23, 27-29, 18-25, 25-22 and 15-11).

Continuing their road trip to begin the season, the Knights headed to Sudbury to first take on the College Boreal Viperes, coming out with a 3-0 victory.  On Sunday, the Knights took on Cambrian who put up a battle.  First-year middle, Sam Cormier, came into the game and changed the dynamic for the team by controlling the front row and leading the Knights to back-to-back victories.

"I'm very pleased with the way the team performed this weekend," said head coach Elaine Pilgrim-Susi.  "We came out strong and were consistent against Boreal, winning 3 sets straight."  When discussing the Sunday game, Pilgrim-Susi said "we started with great intensity and focus against Cambrian in the first set however, we had a few struggles in the second and third sets.  We added first-year middle, Sam Cormier to the line up in set up, who dominated the front row and brought a new energy to the court."  Pilgrim-Susi went on to say that "overall, we are very happy to come out with 2 wins from the north!"

The Knights' next game will see them come home to play against the Conestoga Condors (2-1) at the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre at the Niagara College Welland Campus.
