KITCHENER, ONT:, The Niagara College women’s volleyball team (8-6) returned home triumphant against the Conestoga Condors (8-5). It was a back-and-forth contest which saw a lot of ups and downs for both teams, as the Knights came out with the 3-2 victory (Set scores were 19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 21-25 and 15-12).

The Knights displayed a complete team win in this contest as 11 of 14 players made an appearance in this match. Emmah Gmoser led the charge compiling 12 kills, 7 digs, 3 service aces, 1 block and 1 assist. Tess Kelly followed close behind with 9 kills of her own, accompanied by 7 digs, 2 blocks and 1 assist. Sophia Matias, Sam Cormier and Kyleigh Baxter combined for 14 kills, with Kyleigh also putting on a defensive gem providing the team with 17 digs.

Steve Stone, head coach of the Knights’ women’s team, noted that it was “really nice getting that first win of the second half with these ladies. You can see their hard work and effort is paying off.” He continued on to say “that’s a strong team in Conestoga and beating them in 5 shows a lot of mental toughness – happy with how the ladies battled and extended rallies.”

The Knights return home after a 2-game road trip to face off against the Redeemer Royals (8-6) in a pivotal match for the standings as we draw closer to the end of the regular season.
