Knights women's volleyball team suffers first loss in home opener

WELLAND, ON: The Niagara Knights (3-1) women's volleyball team faced a challenging home opener as they clashed with the Conestoga Condors (3-1) on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Knights were unable to secure another victory, losing all three sets in a closely contested match with set scores of 11-25, 24-26, and 21-25. 

This defeat marks the first loss of the season for the Knights, who had previously been riding a wave of success and high expectations. The Condors displayed an impressive performance, showcasing their skill and determination throughout the match. The closely contested second set, which ended with a score of 24-26, exemplified the competitive spirit of both teams.

Abbey Gooder led the Knights with nine kills in three sets and Montanna Taylor contributed with a remarkable 17 assists.

Elaine Pilgrim-Susi, head coach for the Knights, noted that "despite the outcome, the resilience of our athletes was evident as they continue to give it their all."  She continued to say, "it's a tough first loss at home, but we are focused on learning from this match and working hard to make the necessary adjustments going forward."

The Knights' next match is eagerly anticipated by both players and fans, as they look to bounce back and continue their quest for success. They take on Cambrian College and College Boreal on Friday, November 10th and Saturday, November 11th in back-to-back home games at the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre at the Welland Campus.
