RECAP: Slow start sinks Knights in loss to Bruins

A slow start was the difference as the Niagara Knights men's basketball program (7-4, 3rd OCAA West) dropped a 91-78 decision to the Sheridan Bruins (8-3, 2nd OCAA West) on Saturday afternoon.

It was a tale of two halves for the Knights in the contest. A sluggish start from Niagara found them down by 29 points at the halftime break. However, the Knights would respond with strong second half scoring 51 points across the final two quarters. They able to get within seven midway through the fourth quarter but it was not enough as the Bruins pulled away once more to seal the victory.

Despite the loss the Knights featured a balanced attack, with four players reaching double digits. Marako Lundy (Nassau, Bahamas) scored 14 points and a game-high 6 steals. Delroy Grandison (Kingston, Jamaica), Jordon McDonald (Mississauga), and Tyrell Rogers (Mississauga) all reached double digits in a losing cause. McDonald also added nine rebounds, including eight on the defensive glass.

Niagara's next game will be on the road against the top seeded Mohawk Mountaineers (9-1, 1st OCAA West) on January 20th. The Knights will return home for a pair of games against the Sault Cougars on Sault Cougars (4-5, 6th OCAA West) on Saturday, January 30 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, January 31 at 3:00 pm. Tickets for both can be purchased at the door for $5.00, while students and those under the age of 17 are admitted free. For those unable to be in attendance, all Knights home games are live streamed through www.goknights.ca/watchlive.
