RECAP: Knights earn weekend split at St. Clair and Lambton

The Niagara Knights men's basketball program (11-6, 4th OCAA West) earned a weekend split, defeating the St. Clair Saints (5-11, 7th OCAA West) and falling to the Lambton Lions (11-5, 4th OCAA West).

On Saturday afternoon, the Knights travelled to Windsor for a date with the Saints. The Knights started extremely slow, and were down 11 at the halftime break. However, the Knights would respond in the second half outscoring the Saints 57-37 in the game's final 20 minutes to secure a 83-74 victory.

Despite a slow start in the contest, Knights Head Coach Keith Vassell commended the team's response. "I was pleased with the composure we showed after a rough start," Vassell commented following the game.

It was scoring by committee for the Knights in the victory, who had four players reach double-digits. Delroy Grandison (Kingston, Jamaica), Jordon McDonald (Mississauga) and Johann Jenkins (Delhi) each finished with 13 points in the victory. Tenerro Ferguson (Nassau, Bahamas) added 10 points.

It was a different story for the Knights on Sunday when they travelled to Sarnia to meet up with the Lions. An important game in the standings, Niagara got down early and it would remain that way throughout the contest. The Knights trailed following each quarter, eventually succumbing to the Lions 94-72. Marako Lundy (Nassau, Bahamas), who sat out on Saturday due to injury, led the Knights with 17 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Delroy Grandison and DJ Morrison (Scarborough) each added 10 points in the loss.

Niagara will now return home for their final regular season game on February 19th against the Sheridan Bruins (14-3, 1st OCAA West). Opening tip is set for 8:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.00, while students and those under the age of 17 are admitted free. For those unable to be in attendance, all Knights home games are live streamed through www.goknights.ca/watchlive.
