RECAP: Niagara falls to Bruins in OCAA quarterfinal

The Niagara Knights men's basketball program's quest for an OCAA championship came to an end on Thursday afternoon, as the dropped a 79-69 decision to the Sheridan Bruins. The Knights will now face the St. Lawrence-Kingston Vikings in tomorrow's consolation semi-final.

It was a tight matchup throughout, but the Knights were unable to pull together a victory in the late stages of the 10 point loss in the OCAA quarterfinal. Niagara came out firing, leading by as many as nine in the game's first half. However, the ebbs and flows of the game took over as the Bruins carried a two point lead into the halftime break.

The Knights would go down as many as 10 in the third quarter, before climbing back into the game. However, Sheridan would pull away once again and hold onto the lead for good in the latter stages of the fourth quarter. The Knights were outrebounded 59-51 in the contest, which allowed a number of second chance opportunities for the Bruins on the offensive end of the floor.

Lequan Hylton (Mississauga) received player of the game honours for the Knights on the strength of 22 points, including 14 in the first half.

Tomorrow's game will be played 1:00pm and will be streamed live on www.humberhawks.ca
