NEWS: Lundy, McDonald receive OCAA recognition

Marako Lundy (Nassau, Bahamas) and Jordon McDonald (Mississauga) received OCAA recognition on Thursday evening at the OCAA Men's Basketball Awards Banquet. Lundy was named an OCAA Second-Team All-Star, while McDonald was named to the OCAA All-Rookie team.

Lundy, a fourth-year forward, was one of the Knights most well-rounded players this season. Lundy led the team, and was seventh in the OCAA, averaging 19.1 points per game. He also finished second on the Knights in assists, moving himself in second all-time on the Niagara career assists list. Aside from his offensive flare, Lundy contributed heavily on the back-end. He set the Knights single-season record for steals with 41, besting his own record of 38 that was set during the 2012-13 season.

McDonald, a first-year forward, had an impressive rookie season with the Knights. Behind Lundy he was the Knights second-leading scorer with 217 points to his credit on a 47.2% field goal efficiency. Appearing in all 18 games this season, McDonald showed his prowess on the glass. He led the team, and finished sixth in the OCAA with 171 rebounds this season, including 81 on the defensive side of the floor. Defensively he recorded 20 steals, and led the Knights with 14 blocks on the season.

Lundy, McDonald and the rest of the Knights will open their OCAA championship bid on Friday afternoon against their division rival Sheridan Bruins at 1:00pm. This is the Knights first appearance at the OCAA Championship since the 2010-11 season, where they lost out in the quarter-final. The game can be watched live at www.humberhawks.ca.
