RECAP: Knights unable to overcome sharpshooting Falcons

The Niagara Knights men's basketball program (10-5, 4th OCAA West) were unable to contain a sharpshooting Fanshawe Falcons (2-13, 9th OCAA West) team in a 104-97 defeat on Thursday night.

The Knights jumped out to an early seven point lead in the first quarter, but were unable to maintain throughout the contest. Fanshawe's offence shot a blistering 61.9% from the field and 90% from the charity stripe, eclipsing the 100-point plateau for the first time this season. Three Falcons players reached 20 points in the contest.

Four Knights players scored in double digits, including Marako Lundy (Nassau, Bahamas) who led the way with 19 points. Lequan Hylton (Mississauga) and Delroy Grandison (Kingston, Jamaica) each contributed 18 points, while Jonathan Mataya (Welland) rounded out the leading scorers with 14 points.

Niagara will now have a nine day break before a weekend trip will take them to the Western end of the province to visit the St. Clair Saints (5-8, 6th OCAA West) and Lambton Lions (8-5, 5th OCAA West) on February 13th and 14th. The Knights will welcome the Humber Hawks (12-3, 3rd OCAA West) to the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on February 19th to close out the regular season.
