PREVIEW: Women’s Soccer on the Road Against Sheridan

PREVIEW: Women’s Soccer on the Road Against Sheridan

Saturday, September 19.
12:00pm kick-off.
Trafalgar, Oakville.

After a heart breaking defeat to the Humber Hawks (1-0, 1st Central) last weekend, the Niagara College (0-1, 5th Central) women's soccer program will head on the road to face the Sheridan Bruins (1-0, 2nd Central).

The Bruins won their season opener with a 7-0 victory over the University of Toronto Mississauga (0-1, 6th Central), who were playing in their inaugural OCAA match.  Arianna Mouratidis recorded two goals, while Balpreet Bal finished with a clean sheet for Sheridan.  2014 OCAA West scoring champion Michaela Krampert also scored a goal for the Bruins.

The Sheridan Bruins have controlled this matchup since the Knights joined the league in 2009.  After facing off seven times, the Bruins remain unbeaten against Niagara with a 6-0-1 record.  When these two programs met last season at Sheridan, the Bruins won 4-0 behind two goals from Krampert.

Despite being heavy underdogs on the road in a hostile environment, fifth-year head coach Frank DeChellis believes his program has what it takes to pull off the upset.  "As long as we continue to generate chances and play a strong team game, we should never be out of contention."
