PREVIEW: Knights set to battle Bruins for second place

PREVIEW: Knights set to battle Bruins for second place

Friday, October 9th at 4:00pm.
Youngs SportsPlex – Home of the Knights

Knights Home Record:  1-1-1
Bruins Road Record:      2-1-0

With three points separating these two teams in the standings, Friday's matchup between the Sheridan Bruins (4-1-1, 2nd Central) and the Niagara College women's soccer (3-2-1, 4th Central) program will be pivotal in determining the final standings for the OCAA playoffs.

Both programs have been playing brilliant soccer as of late and both head into this matchup on modest unbeaten streaks.  For Niagara, the Knights are unbeaten in their last four contests, outscoring their opponents 12-4.  During the streak, the Knights tied the defending OCAA champions Seneca Sting (3-2-2,3rd Central) and also went on the road to upset the Humber Hawks (5-1-1, 1st Central).

The Bruins have been unbeaten in their last three games, including victories over George Brown (0-5-1, 6th Central) and Seneca, and a draw against UTM (0-4-2, 5th Central).

In program history, the Knights are 0-8 all-time against the Bruins, including a close 1-0 loss on the road earlier this year.  Alihia McPherson scored the lone goal for the Bruins in that game.

This matchup also sees the division's top scoring team (Bruins – 19 goals scored) against the third-best defensive team (Knights – 7 goals allowed).
